body and appearance
β’ˆ Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
A little over 5'9", weighing in at 148lbs, he's a bit of a twig. Hiruma is described as someone without the build appropriate for a typical American football athlete. Though he's very thin, and looks pretty lanky at times, his effort is clear; he has lean muscle, strong arms and nice ass legs. Kinda' like this if you want a twinky comparison.

β’‰ How old is he?
He's nineteen from the canon point I take him fresh from.

β’Š Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He tends to do both, depending on the situation. If he's ordering people around, boasting, or trying to intimidate others, you better believe he's going to have his back straight, shoulders back, chest out and chin up. If he's walking around (finally minding his own business), he's going to avoid you with curved shoulders, a covered neck, hands in his pockets.

β’‹ How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
The guy's constantly exercising, so he's as fit as a fiddle. He doesn't let himself rest too often, always seeming to be up and about. They say idiots can't catch colds, so he has no illnesses to speak of.

β’Œ How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
Discounting his constant high-kneed running with guns, among other dangerous/horrifying materials, he's a pretty fluid person. His attitude and actions are brash and coarse, but he conducts himself subtly. The way he handles footballs and gameplay is noted to be so sneaky that you won't know what's happening until it already has. So if he doesn't want to be seen slipping from a room, he won't be. If he wants to make a flashy entrance, you're going to hear him from across the city.

⒍ How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
People may call him striking, unique; definitely something to look at. Hiruma knows he's alluring in a dangerous kind of way, and he obviously flaunts it. He knows the best ways to portray his features with sleek clothing and he knows how to hold himself in high confidence so people look on him the way he wants them to. He takes immaculate care of himself.

β’Ž Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
His skin is fair; clear. He has a very standard skin tone, paler than average Japanese skin types. Despite this, when he's out in the sun all damn day he can tan up real nice; he doesn't burn easily.

⒏ Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Originally black, his hair is dyed blond for the extra "wow factor". He wants to look like a delinquent, and he really succeeds with the 'do. It's styled in an insane disarray, sticking up anywhere and everywhere, though he's prone to helmet hair. With gel/pomade, his hair is coarse and not in the least bit fun to touch. Without, it's conditioned and soft; he looks fluffily unkempt.

⒐ What color are his eyes?
Olive green.

β’‘ Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
His bat ears, his pointy chompers, his... pointy everything... he's just really angular...

β’’ What are his chief tension centers?
His main one would have to be his jaw. He's always clenching his teeth, always. Whether he's baring them when he's angry, grinning like an idiot, or trying to hide behind a default smirkβ€”I can see him nursing a few headaches because of it. Another big one would be his eyes, which carry the most noticeable stress. His eyes are the most expressive part of himβ€”his subtlety of expression is unparalleled, and when he's angry, surprised, giddy, or feeling hopeless, the only place you're going to find it is in his eyes. His smirk tends to cover this up, acting as a distraction. His shoulders carry a lot of tension as well, and they hitch up when he's frightened or surprised, and they lower and curve when he's relaxed or trying to pull in on himself. The last tension centres are in his hands; balling his fingers up into fists, opening them like claws when he's trying to prove a point.

β’“ What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
A typical outfit you'd catch him in is in a simple black shirt/pants number, whether the shirt be a graphic tee, a button-up dress shirt, a long-sleeved v-neck/boat neck, short-sleeved v-necks, or a turtleneck. Sweat-pants and track suits are worn depending on whether or not he's training the day of. If he wants to get real crazy, he has fluffy white fur-collared coats, bomber jackets with band logos, classy patterned shirts, nice suits and tuxedos, not to mention disguises aplenty... but it's all very monochromatic. He never wears many drastic colours, and the farthest he'd stretch for brightness is accenting one of his outfits with a gaudy tie or a bright blazer...

β’” Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Well, he's pretty versatile with clothing, seemingly comfortable in everything he chooses to wear. He's notorious for tight clothing, though, wearing it around like a second skin.

β’• Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Depends on the job! For football, he'll wear his uniform, or practice in his jersey. In daily life he wears legitimately whatever the fuck he wants.

β’– You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Boxer briefs, as well as spandex shorts. They keep all the junk in one place.

speech
β’ˆ What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
His voice is medium-pitched, though he has a surprising amount of range. When he's serious, it drops, gets gritty and hoarse. When he's being a cackling super-douche, it rises to something pitchy and grating. It all has a rough quality to it.

β’‰ How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
Hiruma is devastatingly loud. Everything is go, go, go with him. If he wants a point across, he's going to screech it, and hell yes it's going to be at mach speed. It's a wonder how he doesn't trip over his words, but I guess his brain operates as quick as his tongue. On the flip-side, when it suits him to be, he can speak quietly, languorously, slyly, coyly, or with a lazy I-couldn't-give-less-of-a-shit drawl. That's typically when he's serious, or being condescending, but he'll never hesitate to say something. It all flows evenly, he never stutters or pauses with an "um", because he always thinks before he speaks.

β’Š Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
Oh my lord, tons: "kekeke," a laugh; "ya-ha!" the war-cry; various different hoots and hollers, basically anything obnoxious and grating; the word "fucking", which he's notorious for; and scoffing at things with a "tch," or a "keh."

β’‹ What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Hiruma speaks fluently in Japanese, his mother tongue, and fluently in English.

β’Œ Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
In the manga, Hiruma uses English frequently in a number of situations, especially in the Japanese representatives arc, the Death March arc and the world tournament arc. Aside from the specific arcs, he'll drop swear words in English more than is necessary.

⒍ Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He is very charismatic. Not only can he make up a number of inspirational quotes on the fly to raise the morale of his teammates, he provides them all with speeches he conjures up out of absolutely nowhere. Hiruma keeps all this shit filed in his brain for appropriate situations, and it's a unique experience every time he opens his mouth. He thinks about everything he says before he says it, as he's extremely logical and tries to be as accurate as he can be, but he's good at making shit up as he goes along as well, whether it be bold-faced lies or running commentary on what he sees.

β’Ž Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
Eloquent. Always. Hiruma has never tripped over his words. He can get irritated, which'll tip his scale from rude to downright offensive, or get him yelling, but he's never hard to understand. Unless he wants to be cryptic, then you're on your own.

mental and emotional
β’ˆ How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Extremely well-versed in both.

β’‰ Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
It's said that Hiruma can almost immediately think up multiple different strategies for every given situation. If he's deliberating, it's a multitasked process.

β’Š Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Though he has almost too many tricks up his sleeves, Hiruma's logical and practical to a fault. Intuition and faith in his teammates are last resorts, but he'll risk everything by relying on the weakest player if the guy's got the willpower (or "winning percentage," as this fucking tsundere calls it). That's only if every other option is exhausted. Numbers first and foremost, but all in all it's anything for the win.

β’‹ What kind of education has the character had?
He's at your typical level of education. From the canon point I choose, he's in his second year of college.

β’Œ What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
American football. Which is definitely one thing he's an expert in. He's unstoppably factual about football and will jump at any chance he's given to blab about it. However, it's said in the manga that Hiruma remembers everything unless he's uninterested in the subject matter, and he's extremely intelligent. He's a celebrated extortionist, he's uncannily good at card games and gambling in general, he can hack into phones and computersβ€”so he has a high level of understanding when it comes to modern technologyβ€”he's eidetic and a speed-reader (memorized an entire book of his manager's self-made sign language in one rapid flip-through), and he's said to be an avid reader with more books than the most book-smart rival in the series.

⒍ Is he an introvert or an extravert?
At heart, Hiruma's an introvert, needing time alone to recharge. He exhausts himself with all of his show-boating, and he can easily slip into extraversion for daily activities like practice, football games, celebratory outings, et cetera. But he'll remain standoffish during group events and group gatherings, unless it's his time to speak.

β’Ž Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
One minute, he's energetic and excitable. The next, he's screeching about how idiotic someone is, resorting to violence and verbal abuse. Mood swings are pretty common (as is his oppressive judging), but typically he's an easy-going person who seems pretty laid-back in every situation. And while he takes things in stride, but his mind is always go, go, go.

⒏ Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Act.

β’‘ Which is his default: fight or flight?
"ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK. TWO EYES FOR AN EYE, TWO TEETH FOR A TOOTH." Offence is the best defence in any given situation.

β’’ Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Crude, vulgar, explicit, straight-up offensive. He loves to torment people, mock them, embarrass them, infuriate them in any way he can. Hiruma will insult your dick, he'll insult your mother, he'll tell you that you smell like sour breast-milk with zero hesitation. Everything is on his radar, and everyone is a target.

β’“ Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Insomnia. Though it's not explicitly stated, he's often shown awake on his computer late at night, or doing various activities to distract himself with. With a reeling mind like his, it's no small wonder.

β’” What moments in this character's life have defined his as a person?
Leaving his father; finding the American military base where he first learned about football; meeting his best friends, Kurita and Musashi; losingβ€”and later, regainingβ€”Musashi as a teammate; recruiting Sena, Mamori, and the rest of the Devil Bats... I could go on forever. Let's just say that he owes a debt to all of his friends for the character development they've put him through.

β’• What does he fear?
Losing: the umbrella term for everything he hates in life.

β’– What are his hopes or aspirations?
Hiruma aims to join the NFL, and while he'll break his ass working towards that goal, he says himself that it's almost impossible for him, with his physical ability. There was an offer for the MVP of the world tournament to get drafted to the San Antonio Armadillos, in Texas, but he didn't win and that was his "first and last chance."

β’— What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
That he's really a fucking sap, subtly compassionate to people who have similar circumstances, or his birthday. Pointless shit like that. If it gets aired out, though, he doesn't much care; it's difficult to rile him up.

relationships
β’ˆ Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
It's shit. His mother is gone and is never mentioned. He and his father are estranged, because his father is an embarrassing failure in his eyes... #daddyissues. The man's too traditional for his tastes, as he's seen wearing a yukata with a very serious, foreboding expression that intimidates onlookers, so he's quite obviously stern with him and no-nonsense. They simply don't get along.

β’‰ Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
Nope.

β’Š Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
Nope.

β’‹ Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
Kurita and Musashi. His best friends.

β’Œ Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
Hiruma met Kurita and Musashi through American football, but it was a little hole in the wire fence around an American military base which brought them all together.

⒍ Does he have other close friends?
The entire Deimon Devil Bats roster, though he makes more buddies on the Saikyou University team.

β’Ž Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
The latter. He's unorthodoxβ€”many find this to be a huge turn off when looking for a proper friend. Not to mention he's notoriously bad with feelings, and he's a fair-weather kind of guy at best. Hiruma does have a certain charm to him though; his ridiculousness has attracted a couple of people who could see through the walls he puts up. The people who take time to get to know him are the ones he's willing to develop bonds with.

⒏ Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Friends.

⒐ Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
Single.

β’‘ Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
Nope.

β’’ Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Anezaki Mamoriβ€”the relationship is nigh canon, from all of their UST, tender moments, and flirting. He loves ladies, and happens to be protective over the ones he does hold a candle for. On the flip-side, there's Musashi, who has been the firm foundation in his life since they were in middle school together.

β’“ What does he look for in a romantic partner?
He says "someone I can use" in the manga. He's extremely possessive in this area. It'd be someone useful, headstrong, hard-working, dependable, and intelligent. They gotta' have guts, and they've gotta' be able to stand up to him. Talk back to him, play devil's advocate when he shares opinions. He's so used to people being frightened off by his personality, so if you can't keep up with him and accept him for who he is (a belligerent shit-head), he's not going to want anything to do with you.

β’” Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
No, and I think he has a mental block about children. He wouldn't want to make the same mistakes his father did. He's never seen speaking with kids in the manga, but I imagine he'd treat them like short adults.

β’• Does he have any rivals or enemies?
Yes, I cannot name them all.

β’– What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
I play Hiruma as bisexualβ€”mostly for shipping preferencesβ€”with no specific lean in either direction. He has a grossly adorable feelings for the strong, independent ladies, and like all sports manga is used to hoyay tropes. This would just place him at a three on the Kinsey danger scale.

β’— How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
He could take it or leave it, it's really unimportant. He has no need for it, so it doesn't top the charts on his list of things to do (heh), so he's still a virgin. He knows that he's got some slink to him, however, and he knows how to play it upβ€”shamelessness is an extremely noticeable trait, and he's not afraid to use it. Hedonism is a running trend with Hiruma, however, so if he did indulge in having sex with others, it'd be a very unique experience he'd enjoy. He's exceptionally greedy.

β’˜ What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
More innocent turn ons would be assertive partners, possessiveness, outdoorsy scents, dirty talk, and he has a notorious oral fixation. Licking, biting, and sucking are a given with Hiruma. He likes to please his partner, rather than worry over himself too much, because it'll happen eventually and the aspect of control is extremely gratifying to him. Some turn offs: poor hygiene and the habits therein, wimps, delicacy, the unadventurous. Here's a link to an f-list if you wanna' peruse.

beliefs
β’ˆ Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
Aquarius through and through. He embodies the sign. More information about this is in the comments below. To save me from yapping too long about it, because I could seriously... go on forever...

β’‰ Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
"Devils don't ask gods for favours." He's not religious. At all.

β’Š Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
If you want something, find the best way to use what you were given, then seize it, even if the odds aren't in your favour. Never, never surrender. He learned from his father's example that quitters never win, so he adopted a relentless outlook on life. It's not worth fighting for if you're not aiming for the top.

β’‹ How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
He'll listen to your beliefs, because he's genuinely interested in what you have to say. But if they clash with his own, he'll respect and ignore them, or tell you they're trash.

β’Œ What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
There are times he feels that the people around him aren't to be leaned on, as he's extremely independent. This can be irrational, yes, but his past was chalk full of disappointment, so he's rather wary about forming new friendships.

daily life
β’ˆ What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
Hiruma is extremely wealthy. Blackmail material grants him access to many pocketbooks, and he stashes briefcases of cash in his hotel room where he lives. He's pretty nifty at gambling, too.

β’‰ What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
Hiruma's a civilian and an extremely unpopular guy. People generally hate/fear him, and no this doesn't exactly change over time. They just become more tolerant and learn to respect his intelligence.

β’Š Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
Hiruma lives in a business hotel! He discovered that the building itself is larger than the original blueprints suggested, so now the managers allow him to stay for free. It's in a constant state of disarray (it looks like a bomb went off, and that could very well have been the case), but it's only his mess. He has no roomies.

β’‹ Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
American football, travel expenses, guns, fireworks, building renovations, gum. Oh, and islands, apparently? He up and bought an island for no discernible reason...

β’Œ What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
American football. Hiruma's very good at what he does. Tactics and tricks are his claim to fame, not to mention the bitchin' throwing arm he has on him. It's quite obviously his one obsession, he adores football, and adores winning. He's an extortionist, a conman, and a filthy blackmailer, as well as a hacker, and a gun smuggler. He's very good at all of this, he even has his government under-thumb. Hiruma loves every minute of it.

⒍ What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
American football, reading (extensively, anything he can get his hands on), surfing the web, gun collection and maintenance, artsy fartsy things like making figurines at three o'clock in the morning, trick-play card sets, et cetera.

β’Ž What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
Hiruma eats like a horse. There are only a handful of times he's seen eating in the manga, and all of those times, he has a heaping plate of food, or he's chewing on a piece of beef or something. Food is energy, so he tends to eat a lot if a lot is available, especially high-protein foods to buff up even though he's a twig. Cooking is a dangerous experience with Hiruma, as he apparently uses guns to cut his vegetables, so take out and delivery is a common thing on his daily menu. Alcohol is a nice way to unwind and relax, and seeing as he hates sweets and prefers richer, bitter tastes, he enjoys beer and harder drinks like whiskey.
